Have you ever seen one of these? I found it in a place called the Trading Post in Amherst. It’s this great place right across the street from my office. I go there at lunch time and browse. They have the most wonderful selection of dusty vintage everything!
It’s a perfect niddy noddy and a full wrap around is two yards. While I was in the shop, another browser told me that it was a yarn counter. Turns out she is a long time spinner!
Thanks for the info Jenny!
I like your texture on that yarn. That antique is beautiful and still useful. Love finds like that.
Yes! So useful!! Thanks for commenting!
a skein winder – nice find
its a very cool object. And it does wind up my yarn and hold it til I’m ready to dye it!
Nice find.
so fun to use!
It is beautiful – and an eye-catching piece in your house! I want one! :). It’s a skein winder or reel, though, not a niddy noddy (which are hand held). (See my brief discussion of them at http://sweatyknitter.com/2012/12/09/niddy-noddy-an-old-english-tune-and-christ/).
Great post on the niddy noddy! Thank you!
