tiny space-big change

I’ve been fighting the flu all weekend and I needed a bit of a pick me up. I’m sure you know that feeling. There is a little space off to the side at the top of my kitchen stairs. We’d kind of just been piling things in there ever since we moved in. It’s been kind of a catchall for boxes we haven’t unpacked since we moved last May. Yes there are still a few. But every time I walk by that little space I peek inside and think to myself how really great that little space could be. And today I proved it. I gave myself the following rules.

I could not buy anything new. I could not paint or sand or fix or build anything (yet). Just place it – everything had to already be here in the house or the garage – and I could not take anything away from a place I already put it and loved it.

Enjoy the before and after. I know i did!

After!! The room is 63 inches by 72 inches! It has wonderful light with those two windows and a pretty view of my neighbors’ slate roofs, a snow covered hilltop and the giant evergreens behind my house. The quilts were in the cupboard, the chair on the porch, and the table was not being used anywhere. Its an outside redwood type table.  This took me about two hours. So now tell me what are you going to do with that little space that YOU keep walking by in your house???!!!!afterafter2
