snow felt love

On Thursday I had another day off because of the snow. I sat in my new little room to ponder what I would do with the day. I wanted to do some dyeing and I wanted to start something new. I had been walking around the house wrapped up in some wool that I felted in the washing machine a couple of days ago. It was such a comfort -so warm and cozy- so of course I cut it all up and dyed it. Here is what I got!

There is my wool flung over the chair before I dyed it.

I'm so happy with my felt palette. I had so much fun dyeing these and they felted up even more in the dyepot. I used acid dyes and citric acid to set them. I just boiled each one individually and when the water was clear, I took the piece out and put the next one in

That's me and my valentine about 25 years ago! Now do you know what I'm making?

Now I’m getting to work. Can you tell what my project is?

I looked up penny rug! Wow! That’s going to take awhile! What will your back be?
I’m sure it will be absolutely beautiful! Can’t wait to see the process and end result!

Not sure yet-that is a good question. Possible wool or maybe a heavy linen. I know I’ve got some around here somewhere! thanks for following and commenting Christine! Hope you are keeping warm and dry!

Ooh! I can’t wait to find out! I love your blog, Marjorie! You’re a great writer too! I’m also happy that you are inspired and creating!

  3. I’m loving your snow day blogging! It’s funny but my imagination looked at those concentric circles and thought, “Puppet eyes!” Not very romantic but fun!

I’m going to send you a photo of an nyc street corner later today. Please keep it handy for the moment when you might feel a twinge of nostalgia! I love the cold and snow but in nyc the magic fades so quickly. No complaints just an observation from someone who’s looking north.

    Keep on blogging! Love, Ann

I’ve always wanted to make a penny rug. Is this heading that direction? Love your colors! It’s going to be gorgeous.

Two guesses? 1. Circle felted wool blanket or 2. Felted flowers?

Love to hear from you!
