Today I went exploring in my own backyard Auntie Em.
I have a barn. It is about the coolest place ever and today I went looking in there for rusty things to use for a mordant for some dye I made from goldenrod. I found it growing along the river across the street from my house. My neighbor told me that she used rust in her goldenrod dyepot to mordant her wool and it came out a beautiful Forest Green. I saw it. It was truly beautiful. Anyway while I was exploring the barn for rusty objects I saw this and stopped in my tracks because it just reminded me so much of the piece above that I made at Sue Benner’s workshop in 2010.
Okay so I was a huge Nancy Drew fan when I was a young girl. This barn is exactly the kind of place that Nancy would find herself in and get herself into some kind of pickle. While I was in the barn, I realized I had never taken any photos of it so here are a few – take a look if you liked the Mystery in the Old Commode. C’mon Curls and Q and Sweaty Knitter -any Nancy Drew fans out there?
Q – Love it. I actually have a old, diamond pane window hanging in the guest bathroom. Get more comments on it. LOL!
Thanks! Have you ever read the “Diamond in the Window”? One of my favorite childhood books by Jane Langton. It’s awesome! I highly recommend it.
Must be fun exploring such an interesting place.
Yes! My daughter just came for a visit and I can’t wait to drag her up there too!
Love the barn and found objects, Marjorie! Especially the commode!
Thanks Laura! So funny, right? I think I will clean it up and put a plant in it in one of the bathrooms, lol!
That is a great idea! 🙂
I assume your tetanus shot is up to date? 🙂
LOL! I’m being very careful
Gorgeous!
Thanks Mary!
