Arashi Shibori is an ancient Japanese dyeing technique and the results are so stunning! If you are into dyeing and you haven’t tried it yet, here is a little tute to get you started. I usually dye my fabric once or twice before i wrap it but you can use any white fabric as long as it is cotton, linen or silk since this tutorial uses procion dyes. Here I am using cotton sateen, my absolute favorite hands down cotton to dye.
First I wrap it around a piece of pvc pipe that I got from the already cut bin at Home Depot. Wrap it sort of on the diagonal like this
now wrap twine around the fabric. Just tie Iit around the first time and keep wrapping fairly tightly leaving about 1/2 inch between rows. Sort of like this:
now scrunch the whole thing down towards the bottom of the pipe. Don’t let the twine unravel. Now it looks like this
Now put it in your dyepot or bag. I like to use a bag- less water, more concentrated color.

I’m lifting it out of the dye to show you, but just submerge the whole thing pole and all into the dye
leave It for at least 4 hours- overnight is better and don’t forget to use the right amount of soda ash to activate the dye. Im going to leave mine overnight and unwrap it tomorrow. Goodnight!
Can’t wait to see the results!
