Too busy to dye

I have been to busy to dye. Maybe I should change the name of my blog to I dye every week, huh? I’ve been printing though. Lots and lots of printing.  I love working at night, don’t you?  dinner is over and it’s, well it’s late. and dark. and cool. Tonight I was printing some placemats. Fun fun fun working at night like the old days.

i like the grainy-ness of a photo that doesn’t have enough light. So much can be happening there and we just can’t see it.

Here is one Peter took through the screen. I love it.

We got these awesome lights from ikea. They are solar and give off a lovely soft light.

One other thing – Peter pointed this out to me the other day. It seems that flowers dropping from a basket above are dyeing the wood. I went out after a long rain and the images were still there. and they are blue! I’ve seen leaf prints before on concrete, but they are usually brown or black. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen blue before.

Blueprints ha.

I had a pretty good day today and I hope yours was good too.

  1. Wow, nice blueprints! (That made me giggle). They always tell us that indigo is the only natural substance that dyes blue. Just go to show you can’t believe everything they tell you in school, haha.

Hi Marjorie. Your work facinates me. TFS. I have never seen anything like the blue spots from the flowers before. The one looks like a butterfly. Have a great weekend.

P.s. I have just spotted Vern’s comment – Made me giggle.

Hi Florence I was just looking at your cards, they are beautiful. thanks for writing. The blue has faded a bit on the porch. I would love to try dye/printing with the flowers
      sometime.

  3. My motto is do something everyday for your art. The few days I’m not in my studio I’m gathering inspiration, reading about art, attending art related meetings, going to shows and museums. So! No apology needed about printing instead of dying.

  4. Vern says:

How about “i dye when i get around to it”. That’s my M.O.
