Way too much going on. Guess it’s time to dye again!
Took an older piece of cotton that was already dyed and decide to do-over dye-over.
Folded it up like a spanokopita
changed my mind from turquoise to golden yellow -I decided I didn’t want too much change, just a subtle one
tied it up with waxed twinedropped it in the dyebath, added the soda ash – here’s what started to happen
I’ll leave it to soak and hope for the best!
Later dudes
Clever of you to use waxed twine! Mmmm spinach.
Thanks Allison. I love this stuff it is from Dharma Trading Co. called “waxed sinew”
Oh! I think we used that stuff in a birch bark basket-weaving course. I never got the actual name but it was described to me as “fake sinew”, haha. Maybe I still have some kicking around…
Ok, so you have dyed using a type of origami fold! Yea, will be trying this oh mentor! Crackin’ up at the “Later dudes”. 😎
Well yes! Have you ever made a spinach pie?
Is that dyeing technique?
ha ha no it is something to eat! Spinach and feta cheese all wrapped up in phyllo dough. You make a very long rectangle and then triangles based on the width over and over. They are yummy. That is how I folded this piece.
Super yum!! My mom made them, I haven’t. I make spinach quiche. The folding is the way the tiny origami stars and the tiny hearts are made. 😎
Cool! I have to follow some of those links on your origami post. Fascinating!
