This is something I worked on last night. It is a small piece. All one piece of fabric- hand painted with dyes. Been wanting to quilt it for a while and I thought it would be a good practice piece. For some reason I call it jazz. Maybe it’s that big splotch on the bottom that looks like a musical note. I have a series of these in different colors. Some are on silk. I think I will try to finish them all up. This one still needs a bit of work and I may redo the border. A little too sloppy even for me.
I think it measures about 14″ x 18″ Really different from the birds.

Wow, how did I miss this one? It’s right up my alley.
Love the name of your blog! That’s a great piece for working so fast. I like your abandon of applying the color and controlling the range of colors. The pattern of weaving looks really cool. Like it!
I found you because you started following my blog. Thanks!!
Hi Barbara, thanks for your comments! I really like your studio and the tour on your site. You are so organized!! Inspiring!
Thanks! It’s been a work in progress for so many years.
Oh that is too bad for the chem professor!
The silence you hear from me is, simple, awe.
Well gee thanks Karen!
I wish I could use color and dye with as much fervor? boldness? amazing power? that you do.
Ok but let’s not forget the effects of inexperience and accident! lol
Years ago I took a position as a professor in a small liberal arts college. A friend introduced me to a chemistry professor b/c she was a spinner and dyer. The chem prof and I met over lunch, but I quickly learned our styles were VERY different. She dyed in controlled lab environments, measuring everything to the smallest grain, etc. My favorite dying environment is outdoors … “I think it needs more blue..” 🙂 The chem prof and I never dyed together.
I do love the encouragement thank you!
Ooh it does look like a music note! Like distorted sheet music. You’re so cool!
Hi Laura my dear, thank you for your comment. I think you are pretty cool too. 110% luv you.
Jazz in phenomenal ! Love the little heart! And the colors — WOW! You’ve nailed it again.
Thank you! Can’t wait to see what you are working on today!
Actually heading up to Los Angeles today. Husband and I are taking a Lightroom seminar there tomorrow. I taught Photoshop, but not Lightroom. So, nothing exciting today. 😎
