4th of July red white and blue

Sometimes a sarong can be a Tablecloth or a shawl or even thrown over your shoulder for a spit-up rag. Here it is on the table outside ready for dinner last night. Just me and Peter.

I’ve been wanting to dye in my garden for a while

and this 4th of July morning was just the day to do it!

I had two pieces I dyed a while ago and I wasn’t crazy about them so I put them into the big tub along with some sand-washed cotton. I mixed up some urea water-I haven’t used it in a while and wanted to try it again. I think it is supposed to make the colors brighter- it’s liquid nitrogen and needs to be mixed up in warmer water because it gets really cold.

I mixed about a heaping teaspoon of grey blue and poured it over the white piece with the green markings-then dusty rose over the cotton and a bit on the yellow shibori linen. then fuschia  over the whole thing. Next a piece of Sateen thrown on top and mink brown over that. Swished it around a few times and now I’m gonna leave it and go grocery shopping. It’s very hard not to use green, but I’m gonna try to control myself. See ya later!
