Well I spent my birthday making soap this year. The whole day! There is something about having a birthday that makes me feel like I can start all over again. Do you know what I mean? Like a second chance or something. I love second chances, don’t you? For my second chance this year, I am opening a new online shop just for my soaps. I have a new and improved soap studio and a new website that Peter designed for me.
I made Unscented Oatmeal, a bar I call Rosadora, lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Citrus Paradise with a lemony grapefruit scent. I love making soap and I’ve been selling a lot at Brick & Mortar in Shelburne Falls, MA. I am really happy when I make soap. Something about the transformation of the materials, the alchemy, the science. It’s really appealing.
A lot of you dyers out there make soap too, just like me. I wonder what it is that makes us love dyeing and soaping. Transformation? Change? Taking something and helping it to become something else? What do you think?
Here are some photos and a link to my NEW SOAP SHOP! Yes, Yes I’ve been making soap for 20 years and now I hope to join that wonderful group of happy folks making soap full time. Take a look and let me know what you think. And well If you want to buy a bar or two you can expect a special surprise gift with your first order!
Well if you need anything, I’ll be in the soap studio making a batch of buttermilk orange cold process soap, but it won’t be ready to use until the end of August. Oh and if you have a moment come and visit water street soaps on Facebook and chat with me!
xoxo, Marjorie
Congrats on opening your new soap store!
Thanks Laura!
