Some days I just get into the zone and work. Today it helped me to have more than one thing going on. I drifted between projects in a dreamy kind of state, moving something here, stitching the other over there. Having the big design wall helps so much, I don’t know what I would do without it. And I love those hat pins with the big pearls on them. Easy to hold a bunch in my mouth while I’m pinning something up.
Here is the big indigo quilt I’ve started machine quilting with a sweet variegated thread with purples pinks and blues running through. I am leaving it simple with a black border. This border I did in photoshop, but the real one will be linen or cotton sateen.
Here are two new quilts I started today. This little one is my play quilt that I worked on while i figured out what to do with the other quilt. I just placed the pieces on a piece of batting and grabbed a back fabric and shoved it under the sewing machine with the walking foot attached. Black border is photoshopped in.
This other quilt I started this morning. It was going to be small but it’s going in another direction. I used my dyed wool felt to make the tree. It isn’t anywhere near done, but I thought I would show you my process because I know how much I love seeing yours.

so I started here. Cut into a strip of wool and fanned out the strips for the branches and placed it on one of my hand dyes
here they are in relation to each other. They are so different but I’m sure I will never be able to look at one without thinking of the other.
Have a wonderful creative day!
Love,
Marjie
Great project on so many levels. I love the ginkgo leaves, too!

That is exactly how I feel when I hear from you!
Lovely work! So nice to see your process. Stay warm.
Thanks Sally, You too!
Hi Marjorie, thanks for visiting my blog. Being relatively new to working with textiles it’s very timely for me to read of someone so passionate about dying as this is something I want to try next. I will make the time later today to have a good look at your posts, in the meantime I am loving the tree!
Karen.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you, Marjorie! It looks like you had a great day! The squares combination is fun, and I love how the tree project is coming. The gingko leaves on the ‘ground’ is fun!
