Silk Scarves and Buried Treasure

I’ve been dyeing again! Yay! Here is one of my wool silk pieces. I folded it up itajime style and dyed it two times. the drape is really lovely on these pieces and they are light as a feather. How do you like this bench? I found it in a little antique store on Bridge Street in Shelburne Falls. I fell in love with it and waited as long as I could to buy it. I finally did, and Peter and I carried it home walking along the river on Water Street. Looks really nice on the front porch.silkwool1

And we found beautiful golden oak floors under the linoleum in the front hall and the living rooms. So happy! The pink walls will be gone soon. Can’t wait to show you the colors we picked out! This city mouse is really enjoying becoming a country mouse! xoxo, Marjie

  1. What a fantastic discovery to find those wood floors. Your hard work will be a big pay off; I feel your pain just looking at all the work it is taking. Your scarf is beautiful; love the color and the lines.

Thank you Jan! Nice to hear from you. It is a lot of work, but so enjoyable for now anyway. Today I am getting my print studio up and running. So nice to have the space!

Q – Beautiful scarf and the bench is the perfect backdrop! Who would cover those gorgeous floors with linoleum? Wonderful.

Thanks Curls and Q! The house was an old rest home. Lots of linoleum and funny walls used to separate rooms. Not too difficult to restore though!

  4. Love the scarf and the bench! And what a great find under the linoleum too! I’m blessed to live in the country, so I think I know how happy you are. Congrats!

Love to hear from you!
