Tuesday night -midsummer

I need Fall, I just do. A little Autumn would go a long way right now. It poured like crazy today and there were leaves all over the street here in the city. Some very pretty ones, I can’t get them out of my head. Tomorrow I will go around and pick some up and make a screen. So many shades of brown. Brown is such a gorgeous color. It’s earth and leaves and wood and bark. Acorns and seeds. Brown is the holder of life through the winter. Tonight I folded a piece of white sateen and put it into the bottom of a yogurt container. I made a mixture of mink brown and tangerine. I poured it right over the dry cloth. I thought, “yucky brown suits me just fine tonight.” Then I cleaned the house a bit. After an hour or so, I dumped the contents into the sink. I saw red and orange and brown go down the drain. I rinsed and rinsed and started to see the marks, this is the part I love so much -when it starts revealing itself. I was thinking it was random and I felt a tinge of  disappointment. I held it up and saw the reflection in the mirror first. An absolutely beautful pattern. I forgot I had folded it! I just can’t stop looking at my first fall piece. Warm and lovely. Beautiful, Beautiful Brown. I’ll post it tomorrow. goodnight.
