My Mayday Dyeday

Did some dyeing today and it did me some good. There are so many small pieces of wood leftover from building the little house and I know just what to do with it. I had this piece of sandwashed cotton that I was not too crazy about so I decided to overdye it today. But first I folded and tied it up a little.I thought it might be fun to dye something on the little house porch but I didn’t want to spill anything on it just yet, so I settled for the ground near the porch. I brought out my dyepot about 1/2 filled with water, and a little cup with about a Tablespoon of Procion Avocado mixed into 2 ounces of water. I put the little bundle into the pot and poured the lovely green in. Of course it floated and I had to weigh it down with a rock I found nearby. I almost forgot to add the soda ash – it has been too long since I dyed something! But I remembered and mixed up about 1/8 cup into a quart of water and ran outside and poured it in.I went to check on it about two hours later. To tell you the truth I was a bit disappointed. (always a good sign) I didn’t unwrap it though and I will leave it til morning. I did bring it inside so that the raccoons would not get into it and make a huge mess. Sometimes when i use avocado and leave it a long while turquoise shows up and I’m hoping that will happen tonight. I may just dye it again in the morning. We’ll see. You know how I love second chances.
